Who We Are
Glenburn Fire is a group of volunteers dedicated to the protection of people and property in our community, our fire district, and beyond.
Our District
Our fire district covers 165.5 square miles of North Dakota.
It includes the towns of Glenburn and Ruthville, and covers parts of four different counties: Renville, Ward, McHenry, and Bottineau counties.
It extends from the eastern shore of Lake Darling to Grilley Township. Then it goes from the town of Ruthville to just south of Lansford, ND.
Both Glenburn and Ruthville, along with all of the farms and businesses in our district rely on us as the primary response agency in case of an emergency involving, fire, medical emergencies, or rescue operations.
How We Protect Our Community
The ability to respond quickly to any emergency goes without saying. All of the surrounding communities and our community itself is served primarily by volunteer firefighters. They receive little to no compensation and put their very lives on the line in order to save people and property.
We do not know what we will face, what accidents we may have to respond to, or what kind of hazardous environments we will have to put ourselves into in order to accomplish this.
The better equipped our fire station and personnel are, the better able we will be able to respond to that call for help.
Currently we have 4 areas of protection:
- 1. Medical – We are able to still cover at 100% of our capabilities. Glenburn Emergency Medical Responders provide swift medical response when needed.
- 2. Grass/Brush Fire response – As of March 20, 2021 we are again able to respond to 100% of these calls. This was largely in part to vehicles loaned to us at first. But we have replaced those lost in the fire and are once again fully operational in this area.
- 3. Rescue response – This is the third most frequent call we respond to and includes vehicle accident response. Again, we are able to respond to the vast majority of these calls in our district.
- 4. Structure fires – The least frequent, but generally most damaging to the community, this includes house fires. We are fully able to respond to the vast majority of these calls. We have responded to several in our district since we restored our capability in the summer of 2021.
The fire community statewide has stepped up to help and we have received numerous donations. We have been lent and even given vehicles and given equipment. However, we are still working on continuously upgrading and updating our equipment.
